On occasion, the school one attends is as noteworthy in one’s life as their alma mater. This is very true when thinking of boarding schools that have rich culture and practices. One notable school to start thinking about is the one located in Rugby, founded around half a millennium ago and purportedly the cradle of the renowned sport. The school has been a home to various people who later on grew up to become successful writers, political figures, researchers, attorneys, and businesspeople. We will be considering the three previous students, who have all taken very distinctive routes in life and in vocation, but have each been equally successful. If you ever get to the point of having to decide on a school for your young, just think of these folks when attempting to make the best choice possible, since this establishment has built some of the world’s perfect minds.

The school undoubtedly has its share of foreign students, Brian Menell being among those. Born in South Africa, he went on to pursue a career in the mining industry after his time studying, taking the helm of his family organisation. After succeeding to sell the enterprise for a spectacular amount to a major diamond maker, he went on to establish his own organization. At present his interest are very diverse, going beyond South Africa and outside of just mining, entering fields such as banking and agriculture. Definitely, much of his knowledge comes from the skills he picked up at school.

If you are ever in London, you might see lots of men and women on bicycles, steering their way around cabs and buses. Some of these countless bicycles, you will understand, are very peculiar, featuring pretty compact wheels and strange frames. If you’re wanting to know who is behind this, you can look to Will Butler-Adams, an alum of this wonderful school and managing director of the UK’s largest bicycle maker. His path took him in the direction of a degree in mechanical engineering. Although this career took him in many discrete places, a chance meeting with the cycle corporation’s founder secured him a place there, and he grew in the ranks till he became chief executive. Quite a journey!

Some of this school’s alumni went on to have excellent professions in scientific research. Alex Hankey is one such character. After graduating from the school he went on to master physics at the country’s top university before going on to do a doctorate at a famous university in Massachusetts. Thereafter he became engrossed in yoga and meditation, and even went on to help create a university of his own, a crazy step to take! This isn’t to say that he has completely deserted his first love physics, in fact he continues to publish dazzling articles in recognized peer reviewed journals.
