Central Heating and the Boiler Scrappage Scheme
The Chancellor of the Exchequer has announced that the government will be introducing a new scheme aimed at increasing the number of energy efficient central heating systems in operation in households around the UK. The Scrappage scheme was announced in the Pre-budget report as a way for families using old gas boilers that are inefficient to get a replacement central heating system installed at a cheaper cost.The full details of the scheme have not yet been published as the government is still in talks with the plumbing industry. However, the plumbing industry is likely to be favourable to this proposal seeing as it has been calling for a stimulus from the government to help with declining sales. This is a similar situation to the car Scrappage scheme which occurred in 2009 and led to thousands of people trading in their old carbon emitting cars for new greener vehicles.
