Lots of people havetrouble cooking riceand keepingit appeardecently, since itcan be moretemperamentalthan white rice. There are also a number of waysto prepare it.

Here's the most efficient method I discovered to prepare rice on a stove. It requires about 35 minutes from when you begin to when you're eating (which is top notch for rice). This method works for both short grain and long grain rice. I like long grain. I've eaten hundreds of amounts of brown rice using this method in my last 10 years.

Here are the instructions:

   Put brown rice and water together in a pot with a lid.  Use the portion of 1.5 cups water to 1 cup rice.  I normally formulate 3c rice with 4.5c water to get a single batch.
   Set the hotnessto maximum, and bringthe rice/water to a steamexposed.  Then put thelid on the pot, minimizingthe heat to low/simmer.  In case yourlid has asteam valve, ensure that it staysclosed.  Let the rice simmer for 20 minutes.
