Meditate properly – 7 methods

I had a very interesting discussion with a coaching client today, surrounding how to meditate properly. It’s inspired me to write this article and share meditation best practices with the world.

There are so many different forms of meditation. This article will show you how to meditate properly.

Here is a great guided meditation that you can use to show you how to meditate properly, regardless of if you are a beginner or seasoned practitioner. This is one of my favorite guided meditations:

1) Posture – Ensure your spine is straight Regardless of if you prefer to sit, lie down or stand, it is crucial to keep your spine straight.

2) Make your practice a routine – Take action Too many individuals procrastinate on meditation. The important thing is to drop expectations or focusing on being perfect and just be. The point is to be in the present moment and just be.

3) Your Breath The breath is a great way to anchor yourself in the present moment. Many meditation practices focus on breathing techniques. The best way to breathe is to exhale fully and allow your lungs to inflate by themselves. When you exhale completely, your lungs will effortless refill.

4) Bring yourself back to the present moment Your mind will certainly wander, especially when you are new to meditation. The key is to re-focus and become present again. The very realization that your mind has wandered, is presence re-entering.

5) Freedom from thought Being free from thought is more of an ideal than a reality. The key is to enjoy the process and just be present in the moment. This is probably the biggest key in how to meditate properly.

6) Gradually increase your sessions If you try to start out with 30 minutes of meditation right away, chances are, you will end up frustrated. Rather, begin with 5 minutes and gradually increase your session durations. In doing so, you will ease yourself into your practice and enjoy it much more.
