One way to help your organic garden thrive is to leave an undeveloped area that is conducive to the wildlife around your area. This can be a good area for the types of insects that pollinate plants. It can also be a sanctuary for birds, which will help some plants thrive. This can greatly improve the production of your organic garden.

After sprouting occurs, you will not need to keep seeds as warm. Your seedlings should be moved away from any heat source. This also includes removing any plastic that you had covering the plant or container. Keep a close watch on your seeds to know when to do this.

An old laundry basket makes a great way to gather your harvest. An old basket will act like a strainer does. You can rinse your produce off while it is in the basket, and the excess water will strain through the holes of your laundry basket.

To make the most of your time in the garden, you should store all of your tools and implements in a close, accessible location. You can wear an apron or pants that have a lot of pockets, or use a big bucket or can. Keep gloves, small pruning shears, a trowel and any other tools handy in order to increase the quickness of the work that goes into your garden.

Coat your flower beds with a few inches of an organic mulch. This will discourage weeds from growing, add nutrients, and retain the moisture in your garden. This will also make your flowers appear beautiful and finished all year long.

Would you like to kill those obnoxious weeds naturally? To control the growth of weeds, all you need is last week's Sunday paper. Like any other plant, weeds need to be exposed to the sun. The layers of newspaper will kill the weeds because they no longer receive any sunlight. Newspaper decompose quickly and integrate into the compost. You can then add a mulch layer right on top so that it looks more attractive.

Use untreated wood, stone, or brick to build a raised bed. If you use wood, be sure that it is untreated and naturally rot resistant. The best varieties include cedar, locust and cypress wood. In order to avoid toxic substances from getting into the ground and perhaps into your vegetables, avoid using treated wood to enclose or demarcate different sections of your vegetable garden. If your existing garden structure contains treated wood, at least take the time to make a plastic lining beneath the soil.
