Coffee stains are very easy to get rid of. You should use a dry towel to absorb as much of the stain as possible and use a damp towel to clean the rest. Pour a small quantity of vinegar on the stain, wait a few minutes and absorb the vinegar and the rest of the coffee with a damp towel.

Be wary of any carpet cleaning service that charges you per room for their services. Every room is not the same size, so it is not logical for them to offer this type of pricing. If it is offered at this rate as a promotion, the only time this is acceptable is.

Make sure any company you hire to clean your carpets is insured. Accidents can and do happen. For this reason, you want to make sure your home and belongings are covered in case something unexpected happens. It never hurts to ask and make sure, even though most legitimate companies are insured.

Ask them if they will be vacuuming your carpet first, before a carpet cleaner comes to your home. If they say no, then you, yourself, should give the carpets a quick vacuum. Doing so will help to remove debris and dirt from the top layer of the carpet, making it easier for them to get deeper into it.

Do your best to protect your carpet. Before entering your living room and do not hesitate to place a rug over the most traveled areas of your home, always remember to remove your shoes. Consider replacing it with some linoleum if you have a hard time keeping your carpet clean.

Find out what types of chemicals are used. Make sure you know what is going to be used in your home, before your carpet cleaning appointment arrives. Some cleaning chemicals are potentially harmful, both to the environment and people with sensitive respiratory systems. You should always make sure that the products being used in your home meet your approval.

Ask a potential carpet cleaning company which products they use to clean carpets. Believe it or not, this is a big deal, as some of the chemicals used by these companies may harm children, the elderly, or pets. Go with another company if the company refuses to answer your question and provides you with the answer you did not want to hear.

Beware of advertisements that promise you the cleaning of multiple rooms for a very low cost. A lot of times, these ads will bait you into using their service and will only provide minimal surface cleaning. A more thorough cleaning will usually cost a lot more. Make sure that you understand this before you hire them on.

Hire a carpet cleaner for one room. Instead of getting a carpet cleaner to clean the entire house, start with one space. That way, you will spend less money. You will also get to see what their work looks like. If they do welll, you can hire them again to clean your other carpets.

Check into the carpet cleaning company's credentials. Make sure that the company is licensed and bonded, and that they have a good reputation. Ask about the employees as these will be the people that you are dealing with at your home. Make sure that they actually use their own employees and don't sub-contract the work to someone else.

When you are vacuuming your carpet, one quick pass over every area is not enough to pull up dirt. If your carpet is plush or shag carpeting, this is especially true. Slowly pass the vacuum over each area and make sure to pass over every area at least twice.

The most important question to ask any company you are thinking about hiring is whether or not they have insurance. If they come into your home and break your precious antique chair, you'll have no recourse if you sue, they don't have insurance and they end up going bankrupt instead of paying you.

Consider bringing in a professional carpet cleaner more often if you have a small child crawling around or playing on the floor. Professional carpet cleaning removes allergens, dust mites and other hazardous things from your carpets, making it safer for your children. If you do not remove them regularly, while there might not be dirt that you can see on the carpets, these things linger deep in the fibers, and they can make your family sick.

Remember your carpet cleaning warranty as time goes forward. For instance, before you do anything else to the carpet (like an anti-static treatment), make sure you call your carpet cleaner and discuss it with them. You don't need to accidentally void their cleaning warranty without knowing it.
